Christmas in the World

Do you know that Christmas is not celebrated in the same way in the different countries? Each country has its own traditions (special days, food, clothes, songs, etc).

For example, a Christmas tradition is placing sprigs of Holly or Mistletoe above the door. If two people are caught walking under it at the same time, it is said that they must kiss.     Can you tell me things about Christmas time in other parts of the world? You can go to http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/holidays/christmas/ and comment on Christmas in different countries.

You can contribute to the blog by posting some information you know or find out about the traditions typical of this time of the year in different countries.

the Christmas in Australia are very different from us as we celebrate Christmas when we are at low temperatures while they are up to 30 º.

The traditional food of Australia for Christmas is turkey, ham and cerdo.El traditional Christmas dessert is plum pudding.

The Australians also have things other than the Spanish for example at the time of day it is celebrated Spanish celebrated at dinner while the Australians at noon.

Australians surround themselves with Christmas Bush, a native plant that has a little red in their leaves.

Christmas shopping are shorts and t-shirts. At many beaches Santa Claus is coming to a surfboard, or even a surf rescue boat.

Santa Claus is one of the most popular symbols of the holiday.
Santa Claus is based on st.nicholas a devout bishop who lived in turkey over 1,500 years ago.
Advent is a season leading up to december 25.In some churches, the four candles represent hope, love, joy and peace and the center candle represents the birth of Jesus.
Cookie cutters are perfect for making holiday cookies.

Difference enter Spanish Christmas and American Christmas

In Spain we celebrate the christmas day on “Nochebuena” . We have a special meal with our families, the same in America. But here we celebrate the born of Jesus and in America celebrate the day of thanks giving. They have a special meal too but they eat turkey and other things. In spain we usually eat the meals very big and elaborated. In Spain the christmas figure are the three wise men and in America the christmas figure is Santa Claus.

The navidad is celebrated in the whole world. The navidad him gives happiness, happiness and laughs to all the children of the world. The children of the whole world dream with that llege the navidad in order that with all illusion they could make the typical things of navidad mount as the tree navidad, put the socks in the chimney, to play in the snow and especially to meet all his family to have dinner.
In some sites of the world the principal symbol of the navidad is a holy claus and for other sites the kings magicians. In Spain it is celebrated the kings magicians but in Portugal, England... there is celebrated dad noel. In China it calls new Chinese year and is celebrated on January 1 and for example in Spain it is celebrated on December 25.The gifts are gathered under the Christmas tree decorated with very much fondness.
In Spain also it puts on the Christmas crib that is when there is born Jesus who for the Catholics is his god.
